Soil looks wetter and richer than I grow them in.

Tell us some history of this plant. It looks newly repotted. It looks like either overwatered, or burnt up from heat. Maybe both. Give us your location, how old the plant is, how you've been taking care of it.

Its only a few weeks old, potted within the first 48 hours of reciept per the intructions. Also following recommended watering (daily for thr first two weeks) but i felt like it was looking over watered so i scaled back to look/feel of the soil and its worse now. I'm in CA, zone 9.

Probably overwatered and sunburnt. The container looks too large for the plant. Soil retaining too much moisture. Mangoes HATE to be overwatered.

How is it now? Still alive? I'm in CA Zone 9 also, inland area. Did the leaves look fine when you took the tree out of the box? Or were they already like in the photo? IF they looked OK upon receipt, with they way they look now (in this photo),I'd say there are 2 possibilities: Overwater, or too much sun. Good luck!
