Help!!! Need advice on good trim colors for Alabaster white exterior

Hi! We are painting our house and chose Alabaster for the body of the house but are having trouble picking colors for the trim and the skirt. We live in Charleston and the skirt gets very moldy due to the climate. Any advice is appreciated! Below is a picture of the current colors.

Paint the skirt to match the color of the usual mold.

Love SW Alabaster. Have it on all interior except dining and powder room. Outside, your natural light will affect what works best but most anything will work. I would test sone dark grays or dark browns for skirting. It will help ground the house too.

Try SW Black Fox for skirting and shutters. It is dark brown/black.

Is your roof blue/gray? Hard to tell with the Internet.

Don’t forget about roof and cement sidewalks. Leads me to a more gray white for body with darker gray for skirt.

Flo, thank you so much. The roof is actually more of a brown/redish. ive attached another picture in different lighting. Yes to the question about sodding the front yard!!! we just finished our back yard and plan to do our front next spring after removing some of the pine trees.

Ignore the blues!!! From left to right the whites are Oyster White, White Duck & Alabaster (all SW). Im afraid White Duck is too creamy.

Alabaster will just look stark until the mold grows on it. You need an earthy green. A lake blue. The red clay dirt that it is currently. It needs to be a color pulled from nature, to fit the style and setting.

I have to agree with verbo. your house really calls for a color. i quite like the red but blues and greens would be nice too. i would remove shutters no matter what though.

How about a gray-green for trim? SW Majolica Green

Your house is adorable. Glad some of the pros and talented Houzzers are helping you. Flo is right about looking at the whites on both sunny and cloudy days to make sure it isn’t blinding.

How about rethinking your plan? Here is a inspirational photo and a color palette as example. I am OK with your shutters because they look like they could be functional and they provide vehicle for accent color. I would paint body BM Tarrytown green or similar color and shutters complimentary orange/rusty red for accent. I suggest you look on Houzz for pictures you like that are inspirational to you and post in a new Ideabook here on Houzz. You only have 2 Ideabooks now so it would help us “see” what you like and envision. Great house in great setting.

Being from Charleston, why not look at some of the colors from the Historic Charleston collection at SW? I mean I know your house isn’t typical Charleston architecture, but you could use the colors. Charleston Green for shutters and porch rail and skirt would be pretty with Alabaster siding.

Thank you all!! I really appreciate the input and the help! We are taking down most of the pines in the front yard and actually get quite a bit of direct afternoon sun on the front of the house. We are also planning to sod the front yard. I definitely am open to looking at all options!

Just a tip for mold control. Our brick is an Alabaster white which gets mold when dirty or damp. Keep gravel or mulch thick along the house to keep the mud and mold down. also be diligent about leaky gutters an such.

I am a fan of power washing your brick. I did my house and it looked so much brighter. It was 10 years old at the time. It will help with mold control too.

    And what @kathleen MK said.
