I need to see your kitchen and you need more than one fixture in there so post a pic of the space .

Ill have two fixtures. one above the sink…which is the the black pendant light. i will have another light in the center of my kitchen and plan on the flush mount drum. just trying to figure out which color i want, white or black…

Dont mind the mess…we are doing the renovation ourselves…slowly. The floor will eventually be white tile.

Make sure a pendant is what you want over the sink - they get messy. That said - black.

Hmm, that is a good point. the length is adjustable so maybe we can make it just high enough and doesnt get too messy.

Start the pendant low and plan to raise it if needed. It's really hard to go the other direction. Been there done that. :)

I have that flush mount in a hallway and love how it looks. That being said, be aware that the light direction is straight down. It will not spread very much ambient light throughout the kitchen.

in a kitchen redo is improved lighting. your space is medium sized with only one window. For whatever reason you do not want to include a lighting plan and are only willing to put in a fixture i would pick a single trac with directional capability or perhaps two of that sort......below is a flush mount if the center fixture is all you will do......the last is the sort of thing you have picked. I dont think you'll like the gap at the top and for the size it is not giving you adequate function /performance.

Just me over here wondering why you are not putting in 5 can lights. You can do remodel or even wafer style, this is your chance. Spend it here on lighting, or you will forever live in shadows. Lighting is very important in a kitchen and here it would be a great improvement. I would hire an electrician to run the wire you can install yourself if that helps with budget. Dont short cut lightings.

While I love the look of the black pendant, how big is it? If you are hanging it from the location of your current over-sink light, it might be too wide and look awkward there.

I also think the pendant light is too large. cut the shape out of some spare cardboard to scale and tack it to the ceiling with some string and blue tape.

We recently spruced up our kitchen (lots of details on a post in before/after and kitchens) and were thinking of adding a pendant over the sink but decided on a can light. I love it! The kitchen already had 5 can lights that, while I'm not in love with, provide a ton of light. We added a simple center light as well as a fixture over the peninsula. I've included a phot for detail. Ignore the mess, husband is home this week and daughter just returned from camp.

The ceiling light you're looking at isn't going to give proper lighting over the counter or the stove. Plus, it has a diffuser shade on it. Horrible for areas that need good lighting because it 'diffuses' the light! Not exactly what you want in a kitchen.

You want clear, bright light. preferebly LED in the 4000K range.

you could do a light like this, which would put out better lighting. And you could also do the cans around the countertop area
