Update 20+ year lighting HELP!

I'm in the process of updating our lighting, low voltage and recessed, as well as adding sconces, and updating flourescent fixtures throughout the house.

When we purchased our home, we gutted it and used an architect and a contractor for everything. Now, the lights are not only outdated, they no longer work properly. I also want to free our ceilings of transformers and wires, which at this point only serve as dust and spider collectors.

The process of finding anyone who would take on this relatively small job--small since we are competing with billionaires--has been difficult.

Through houzz I'm now trying to decide who best to work with: two contractors and one lighting company. I think I need to go with a contractor, take the plans to the lighting company I like, purchase my fixtures in consultation with them, and have the contractor install them.

Does this make sense to you? Have you updated your lighting this way? Attached photos just to give you an idea of what I'm doing. Do I need a lighting designer?

Help please. I'm worried about making a mistake.
