Yes, we have all wiring already in, but our fabricator told us we need an electrician to do that portion, and they will fabricate the pieces to accommodate it.

So . . . you are looking for a referral for an actual electrician to call, not how to accomplish this detail? This is a worldwide website and I don't know that electricians peruse it looking for work in their town.

You first needed the kitchen designer who has roped in that rodeo before. And to have selected a stone that is actually translucent, like an onyx, which is soft, and not suited to kitchen use. Trying to figure it out with folks who don’t have a map is going to be a gigantic fail. Too much is dependent on the initial documented and diagrammed design and bringing in the right trades from the beginning. Too late to ”figure it out” now. That time was 6 months ago.

Layering Process for Backlighting a Waterfall Island
1. Cabinet Structure – Acts as the base.
2. Plywood or MDF Substrate – A flat, stable surface for the LED panels.
3. Frameless LED Light Panels – These sit directly on the plywood and provide edge-to-edge illumination with no hotspots.
4. Clear Acrylic Spacer (Optional) – If using multiple LED panels, a 6-12mm acrylic sheet may be added to help blend the seams and evenly diffuse the light.
5. Stone/Quartzite Countertop & Waterfall Panels – Installed directly on top of the LED panels.

Do You Need an Electrician?

Not always! Unlike traditional lighting setups, our LED panels are plug-and-play, meaning they don’t require hardwiring. Many clients have their stone fabricator or millworker install them just like any other countertop component. However, if you’d like a wall switch or dimming setup, an electrician may be needed to integrate a dimmable power supply.
