Poo. I think a fabric-covered box valance could look really cool on those windows and with that textured wall. I’d build one from cardboard as a test for sizing what looks good to you.

Just hang the drapes at the ceiling and call it a day. Boxed valances have been out of style for more than 20 years.

You know when I see ....option 2, "YES, LIKE THIS"... style of hanging drapes my eye goes right to the wall above window - yet it is behind the curtain(?). I don't like it at all. It looks very weird to my eye. Even option 1, "NOT LIKE THIS" looks like someone got the wrong size of drapes. oops. I'd opt for no drapes as my first option. A friend has similar windows and she has a pull down blind of some kind that rises and disappears into a very slim line at the top of the window, next to the frame during the day leaving the glass 100% clear. Of course this depends on privacy issues etc. Second choice, I'd definitely try the cardboard valance party_music50 suggested and see how it looks.

Your window trim is so beautiful I would not cover any of it. I love the look of inset woven wood blinds.
