Look inside the cabinets along the back wall and side wall(s). For instance, behind the bottle of All detergent. There have to be screws holding the cabinets onto the wall somewhere. And/or the ceiling - I can’t tell for sure if the cabinets go to the ceiling.

The cabinets look like they might be original to the house so when you get them down the exposed wall might not be as pretty as you expect. So it might end up being more work than you think to make it presentable.

Could you take the doors off the cabinet and leave it instead? Shelves are already there. You could clean them well and then paint them with something like Kilz to seal them.

Those are in pretty good shape. The concealed storage lends more tidiness and a less cluttered feeling than an open shelf would do. Keep them, paint them, line them, and add a lot more lighting to the room.

Frank, no, I'm not keeping them. They take up too much of the room. The doors seem to be nothing but pieces of plywood that slide on grooves. And they reek of fabric softener. They're awful.

littlebug zone 5 Missouri I'm not sure if they are original. They look nothing like any of the other cabinets in the house. I did find the screws. I also discovered there is no back to the cabinets. The back is just the wall that is painted and textured like the rest of the walls in the house.
