What is the floor of bathroom like?

can you post a pic of the bathroom so we can see the shower area? If possible?

7x5 isn't that large. doing the 24x48 is going to result in a lot of cuts. (do the math!)

You might be able to get by w/the 24x24.

check out some of the other large format tiles. you get 5 samples for $5

this shower is 5X8. tiles are 4x12 and 8x8. floor tiles are 24x24 (and used about 5 of thm)

curb was a solid piece of quartz to match the charcoal

If you did the Lines tile, you'd get something like this look (if you want all black) but in a 24x24 layout.

This one is kind of cool. tiles are stacked layout and look to be a 10x10 size? it's a narrow shower, so I think it's appropriate.

what about this one? It's quite the statement. black hex on the walls, and a matte cement look porcelain floor tile

You could also opt to do the back wall in the black, and the two sides in a simple white tile

This one is Cloe Tile (in the blue, but they also carry a black). do the grout in a charcoal color and it will look dramatic. for the shower floor, do a black mosaic

black penny round floor tile, 9x9 wall tiles.

speaking of black penny round (or hex) this shower is really pretty. white herringbone on the back wall and the two hex tiles on the other and the floor.

Here's a charcoal 12x24 tile. This tile job was done very well (except the niche. the niche should be within full tiles if possible). while not all black, it is a handsome looking shower.

I really like this one too, especially w/this niche size and layout. the white and charcoal w/the gold (kohler ) is very dramatic looking. you could do a mosaic floor tile, or one of those larger, cement pattern tile floors

see this outside floor? maybe something like this to break up all the black/white.

this is a 24x48 tile. notice the cuts in the corner and at the bottom. hate the crown molding in here too! In a smaller shower I think these tiles are somewhat of a waste.

12x24, 1/3 offset layout. nicely done niche. Tile job is also very nice the way they wrapped the wall

also, I don't care for the shorter cut tiles in the most visible corner of the shower. the actual tile cuts should have been done differently. If you're using a large tile, sit down and do the math so you can visualize where the cuts are going.

I have a very large shower and used the 4x12 tiles. (if you click on my name and go to master bath redo, you'll see it) the grout isn't that big of a deal to keep clean. once a week it gets a scrubby brush and cleaner.

I have some other black showers in my next comment. (there are so many great options)

found some other black shower ideas w/herringbone design. smaller tiles. see if you care for any of these.

this one you get the best of both. the beautiful thinner herringbone tiles, and on the sides, the 12x24. you could do a layout (horizontal offset) like shown, or a vertical or horizontal stack.

Too many shower controls on this one, but I do like the black wall surrounded w/the white.

I do love these matte glazed brick tiles. if you want all black, here you go. (and a perfectly fitted niche too! although a taller size w/a shelf would be more usefull)

If doing a bench, get a solid piece of black granite or quartz. ditto curb. Or, if you're doing a white marble countertop, you could use the marble piece in the shower too.

3x12 glazed brick w/the Kohler gold, gray/white mosaic floor. I like the vanity/mirror accents.

this size is similar to yours. I really like this look. they did a stacked layout w/black grout, but look at that niche! terrazzo looking back tile w/a white quartz shelf. love how the niche disappears into the wall.

you can't see the shower but this tile goes right into it. the floor tile is nice too.

consider doing a jazzy floor tile if you do an all black tile on the walls.

these look like an 18x18 size. could be black slate. hard to tell. I do like the layout and the look.

Everdebz, I haven't chosen the floor yet as I was trying to decide the tile first.

And, Beth, you are right, that tile is much too large for the space. Sometime we just need someone to point out the obvious! I haven't taken a photo yet as we only have the framing up.

Our new shiwer is 7x4. We used 24x48 tile, the tiler did annexcellent job and it looks great.

The last photo Beth posted above looks to have quite a bit of texture to it. Has anyone used textured tile in their shower? Is it hard to clean? I am not looking to have to clean it with a toothbrush every week!

I didn't realize the tile would be about $2K. Wondering if I should just consider quartz slabs instead and it be about the same cost?

While black looks dramatic, everytime I've seen black bathroom fixtures they are water spotted. So maybe this is something that looks good in pictures but isn't practical IRL.

We are actually wanting to do the brassy/gold fixtures! We have this in our kitchen and it looks just lovely!

My new master shower is 7X6.5

Consider just how big this is. You'll be showering out in the middle of that large space /unable to reach the walls, which can feel excessive /overly exposed /commercial.

I am thinking 12x24 or maybe even 24x48.

I'd say 12x24, which is pretty big, and mount them "tall" rather than "wide" ... the larger size is genuinely HUGE. They put huge tiles in church basement in the remodel, and they are noticeably monster-sized. It works in a huge basement where 200 people can sit down to eat, but it would be too much, too much in a private home.

And, of course, you want small tile on the floor for "grip". Plus large tiles on the wall will pair nicely with small tile on the shower floor ... contrast is nice.

I am really wanting black.

Thoughts on using black tile:

- Are you ready for the upkeep of stark black? If not, consider black with a speckle of some sort.

- The ideas proposed on this thread are sooooo different. One black accent wall is quite different from a whole-shower in black. Decide just how much you want. Personally, I think a little of this strong color goes a long way.

- Consider testing it out first: buy a roll of black wrapping paper from the dollar store and tape it up to get a general idea of how it'll look.

- With black, I'd work hard on creating a space to hide the toiletries ... like behind a pony wall instead of in a front-and-center niche. I'm thinking a shampoo bottle would really stand out (in a negative way) against stark black.

- How will you carry black through the rest of the bathroom? Artwork with strong black accents? Black in your light fixtures?

I don't think lightly textured tile would be too bad to clean ... as long as you have a hand-held shower that you can use for cleaning. With a shower this big, consider that a hand-held shower on one end won't reach to clean the far side.

I'm not at all surprised ... that's a big shower. If you could have quartz slabs for the same cost, I'd go for it (on the walls); slabs would eliminate the grout lines altogether, and that can only be a positive.

Yes, that'd work well ... I'd also consider black fixtures at the sink to tie into the black shower tiles. Do they make brass/gold shower fixtures?

I like the idea of black but water spots should be considered.

7X6.5 sized shower and only 2K on tile? that's cheap. now you have to pay someone to waterproof it and install the tile. For a shower that size, 6-10K isn't out of the realm.

porcelain or quartz 'sheets' aren't going to be cheaper, and need a very experienced tile guy to install these. (experienced/good = $)

BTW, why are you going so wide? I have a large shower and don't even use the back portion of it. I purposely designed it this way because of the plant wall. Otherwise, no one needs all that space unless you're disabled?

My shower is about 49" X 93" . I don't have any glass. don't need to. I did a lot of tile. lol. (I imported all of that marble from overseas and saved quite a bit money. it's not for everyone though)

I have black faucets. they don't spot. the black tile/grout on the shower floor, however, they do. I squeegee. if you have hard water, get used to it.
