Can you post a measured floor plan of the laundry room?

If your inspiration pic is similar to the rest of your house style, that is fine. I'm a fan of a cohesive and unified home style.

If you have to do laundry, and most of us do, then you may as well enjoy the laundry area. Its not a big space but there so much that you can do to make it look great and function well. You have good hanging space and storage. You are pretty limited as far as adding more functional folding space because of your machines. Ill put this in your head tho, Imagine what you could add if you had stacked front loading machines. You could have hanging space or closed cabs,a small folding counter and either drawers or reach in cabinets below. If you added side by side front load machines, you could have a very generous folding area. With what you have right now, and its still pretty great, you have a blank slate. I would paint because peel and stick wallpaper wouldnt do well with the humidity from the dryer. Find a chandelier that makes you smile when you open those doors.

i actually made a little progress today!

obviously the second is a poor photoshop effort, and the diamonds are way smaller - i've been stuck on what storage bins/baskets to do....i want to incorporate a red accent..... the fact that these shelves are not symmetrical makes me CRAZY! there's enough room in that little nook (at the top of the stairs) to do a little storage cart or something...but i'm not sure what to put in/on the shelves.... candy red wire / wicker baskets?! canvas? alternating?! maybe just some gold vanity trays and a red blind?! gahhhhhh :(
