I'm confused -- looking into the kitchen is a black countertop, but you've got a close-up of a light countertop. ?

Sorry - photo of foyer into kitchen was before remodel started. Was trying to quickly include pic of stone foyer that shows kitchen. Now floor is oak and counter is Alice Exotic quartzite white.

I see the floor tile you're talking about and it really makes me want to find non-tile alternatives for you. Can you get a piece of stone that matches your counter and take it up to the bottom of your window? Theres a lot of damage to the wall to the left of the sink. Just replace the drywall.

There is no tile. The floor in foyer is batural stone that extends outside! It is beautiful. All other floors are red oak. I was only talking about backsplash tile.  :-)

Great. In my opinion the natural stone on your floor makes tile on that wall less than optimal in a relatively small space. I recommend you go with a short length of stone as a backsplash. The hardwood floors look great. Good luck with whatever you choose.
