No sign of corn worms inside the ears?

That is weird Don, maybe a bird pecking out a line right thru the shuck? Any pics? I've had Sap Beetles chew down a single row on the inside of the shuck, they are tiny blackish beetles that get inside via the silks, like the ear worms but they generally chew around the top of the ears.

Sounds like bird damage. They've sometimes opened a seam in some of my sweet corn too, then pecked out a couple rows.

Nothing inside. I think birds but never see them on corn.

I have to put footies [short nylon socks] over the ears here....birds
