Covered Parking Placement Dilemma Help

We are looking to add covered parking and we have a rough plan in place but need someone to bounce some ideas off and tell us what will make the most sense visually. I want it to look as much as part of the house and not an afterthought as possible. Trying to figure out how the best way to do ti would be. Meaning, attached to the current roof (already got variance exception for), do a separate structure with a connecting piece, or really any other ideas! I am not very good with the visual aspect of things so would appreciate any feedback you have! Or if you have any recommendations for a professional that could help point me in the right direction that would be helpful!

I have included some pictures of our current house, initial thought of how to design it, and aerial photos to get an idea of the overall picture. Also, we are replacing the wood fence with a concrete wall, if that changes anything. Lastly, if any ideas to get a higher roof line on the covered parking without making it look too awkward would be great but we also realize we may be limited to the current roof line height for aesthetic purposes. Any ideas are appreciated!

It looks like you will be blocking a few windows. Will that be a problem?

Start it past the major windows that show blue shutters on the side, and be sure the door for easy entry to the house is under it. Your photo doesn't indicate where your measurement of 85" would fall on the house, but keeping the major windows uncovered would be important to me. Another option, If you have convenient access to the grassy back yard, is to put the carport all the way at the end of the drive so you can use it as a nice covered patio too.

Put it back as far as possible from the front of the house and IMO a freestanding structure instead of attached to the house We have this carport I love it freestanding and light looking and works great we live where we have winter and quite a lot of snow no problem.THere are quite a few different designs so check them out google freestanding carports.

Buy solar panels built into that clear-roofed carport and conceal it down the driveway. Put shrubs at the corner of the house, and you won't even see the carport structure from the street; you'll just see the car.

There are tax credits for solar panel installation and sometimes state incentives, and oil prices are going up up up.....

IMO your roofline is SO pretty. Attaching a garage that looks like it belongs is going to mess it up. Don't.

I’d build a freestanding carport on the rear of the driveway, and include storage space so you could remove the shed and get back a little more space in your backyard.
