I'd like to replace my bathroom vanity with something slightly larger and taller. Right now our vanity is 34" but we have space to go up to 48". Our issue is that we have a toe kick heater under our vanity that is connected to our forced hot water heating system. The way the bathroom is laid out we don't have the option of putting in a floor register so would need to keep the toe kick heater as it's our only heat source in that bathroom.

Two of the bathroom walls are exterior walls and it sits over our heated garage. Despite this, it gets quite cold in there in the winter because we live in Maine. I'd love to find something with legs or possibly remake an antique dresser into a vanity. However, what I'm finding all sits up on legs so the bottom is open. Would it be ok to use some boards to essentially create a box the toe kick heater could sit in with a cutout for the vent to attach to the underside of the vanity? If we go the antique dresser route we would likely end up painting it so matching colors wouldn't be an issue. Has anyone successfully done this? We've discussed also doing a heater in the ceiling but I'm not sure how keen my husband is on this and given that would still require us to contend with the current heater it would be easier to work with what we've currently got. If we stay in this house long term we will eventually gut and remodel the bathroom but that won't be for many years. In the meantime I'd like to find a solution that will work better with my style and our needs.
