Looks really nice. FYI, You may have to tinker a little with the hood location over an outdoor grill. We ended up having to move ours further forward over the grill for it to catch the smoke. .We found after initial install that most of the smoke came out of the front of the grill and missed the hood so the hood needed to be proud of the front of the grill. We just added a box behind and covered with stainless (see before/after pics) . It is dependent on location and how much breeze you get but its a fairly easy tweak after install if you need to do it. Your outdoor kitchen is fabuous! enjoy.

That's a dynamic backsplash. I'd run it all the way up and go with darker sconces.

Thanks dan1888, I think I picked out those sconces almost a year ago, before I chose the tile. I agree that a dark sconce would look good.

Will the sconce lighting be enough for grilling…working..serving ..in the evening or at night in that area?…

In general the fan seems sort of high to efficiently gather in the smoke …the depth should cover the depth of the BBQ….as well …i would lower it as much as possible to still allow room for the BBQ lid…

Good point about the height of the hood. I was thinking the same thing. Not only did we have to move ours forward but down closer to the grill. The tile looks great now, but would look fantastic all the way up. A shelf would be a serious dirt catcher especially if your in a wooded area with lots of pollen. I think I would skip the shelf because I would hate cleaning it all the time.

My sympathy to the guy on the floor trying to figure out how to install the grill. I've been there.

I did think the wood shelf…if it stopped on each side of the hood… would tie the wood feature all together….flow a little better…since the wood fan feels tied to the ceiling…but disconnected from the bottom half of the patterned tile and gray cabinets…since the ledge would be too high to serve a purpose…it could just be a flat trim…

In the best of all worlds i would remove the wood from the hood …keep it stainless…as the two materials are really not complimentary or harmonious..

I would never do a wood hood over a BBQ they are bad enough over a regular gas stove with out the smoke .

Finally got the rest of the tile installed after 4 months.

In post-Ian FL, there are many delays trying to schedule contractors.

Here is the photo of the tile up to the ceiling. We are very happy with it. There were some questions if the sconces would provide enough light; there are 7 can light in the ceiling, so we had to put a dimmer due to too much light. The vent hood is super powerful & functions well.

I learned a lesson about being very specific about how high tile should go :)

This is a gorgeous improvement… all the tile adds so much to the overall feel in the area…
