We are obtaining quotes to update our staircases from carpeted stairs and builder grade wood traditional spindles (painted over red oak 4 years ago to black and white) to refaced wood stairs and new handrails and spindles. Our home is a 18 yr old basic builder home, our decor leans towards modern farmhouse/scandi aesthetic (1st two photos are our front foyer). I cannot decide between simple black iron spindles or white square wood spindles (see example in the 3rd and 4th photo). We have black metal accents (black framed circle mirrors, barn door hardware, black metal light fixtures) throught our home but am wondering if the iron spindle option will go out of style over the next 10 years when we plan to sell. I like both options but wanted opinions on which is the better option in the long run for our home?
