FWIW, grasshopper poop does look like that. Grasshoppers tend to kick the poop away, though, rather than leaving it on the leaf.

looks like you have a heck of a harvest there.. and it is sept... do you really think it time to treat the plants for bugs ....???

i realize knowledge is power and all that.. but the quest for such need not result in treatment ...

keep looking... eventually you will find it ... and if you do.. lay them on the sidewalk.. and the birds will fly them away for you ...

The grasshoppers were eating my peppers too, and have now started on the eggplant fruits. I just bought an insect net and have already caught two and mashed them. They move soooo quickly that the only thing that has worked for catching them is this net... one-day from Amazon.

FWIW, rats wouldn't necessarily eat eggplants - the ones here like sweet and juicy fruits - like my tomatoes. They tend to leave non-sweet fruit alone.

And something I've noticed about most insect poop is that it tends to have a ridged/segmented form, compared to mammals or birds.

Could be grasshoppers, they do love the peppers. Could be a sign from the spirit animal grasshopper..
