Traps. Big ones. Use peanut butter as bait. Never fails. I manage coons and possums with those. Urban raccoons, at least, won't be scared of anything. They're street-wise.

i successfully trap them with marshmallows and conceal the havaheart trap in a cardboard box.

I've never tried marshmallows, but I now see it is written that they are the best possible bait for raccoons. Good idea. I do find that a little surprising because marshmallows don't smell. Peanut butter can be smelled many yards away. And yes, Havahart large is the way to go.

The smell of marshmallows lured raccoons out of a roof within minutes during the dsy!

We have had good luck using dry cat food as bait for live trapping raccoons. One time we got a two-fer, mother and junior both in the trap!

Professional trappers around here use dry dog food with cherry syrup poured over it.

Live trap or shoot. No way I ever found/read to keep them out. Live trap I use tuna fish & vanilla extract. They get angry in there FYI and STINK:)
