Thank you for your suggestion. I should have added my husband wants a back as he does a lot of his work from the island. He’s 6’2 225 I just told him now that comfort usually means upholstery which he’s been adamantly against since we have replaced ours so many times. Another option is pleather which I’m not crazy about. We had the camel bucket ones and they unstitched fairly quickly from all the use I believe. Although I’m thinking about revisiting that option.

Have you considered Eames molded plastic barstools? They don't GO but they don't NOT go. Comfy and durable classics.

I would consider counter stools too heavy for the kids to move.

I've had the Tig stools from Crate & Barrel for 2 years now...4 kids. Love them! I used to have Hallett's stools but husband kept complaining how uncomfortable the foot rests were so we had to change them. I ordered mine with the leather cushion (real leather, very nice) but they are comfy even without them.

We’ve had CB2 acrylic chairs for 10+ years - all through kids and lots of entertaining, and they still look great. They are low key and easy to clean for sure

So I just showed them these leather ones from cb2 and he said sure just to put me out of my misery. Lol. I’ve spent at least 72 cumulative hours maybe more searching. But If he’s okay with getting leather I feel a whole world of possibility has opened

@Fori I did order some molded plastic ones from Walmart. At this point I’m open to everything and anything I haven’t tried. They’re not here yet

I have knockoff Cherner stools from Wayfair in walnut veneer that have held up beautifully over four years of twice-daily use by four children under 10. (Similar to photo)

I have these Rejuvenation Sumpter counter stools which I can highly recommend. Very comfortable and sturdy with back support and deep lightly cushioned seats.

How old are your kids? I would worry about the plastic ones being easy to tip.

These are sold here on Houzz and they look very sturdy. The seats were available in a multitude of color but apparently no longer. There are a couple of options with the wood at different prices..
