Is drainage required for this?

Seems that code would require some type of drainage system in case the water gets left on, gets accidentally turned on, or leaks.

    no it does not. You may have noticed that code also does not require drainage under a range that has a pot filler over it...which has created epic problems for homeowners from time to time!

    That is literally the stupidest feature I've ever seen in a kitchen. A pot-filler to put water in the dog's bowl? Are you kidding me? You have to carry it to the sink every couple of days to rinse it out anyway.
