I think a mirror serves no purpose on that pretty fireplace. Consider a large canvas art you love.

Also vote for artwork vs. mirror. And, I would remove the corbels if possible or match them to the mantel.

@paradisesh8 Are horses special to you or are you focused on color in the art? I ask because the colors are similar to art @elcieg showed you. Art is a very personal decision & though I like horses a lot, I prefer the landcsape scene as more timeless & easier to like for a long time. I also like the wider shape of the landscape.

ETA: I think what I’m meaning to say is don’t choose the first art you see as a perfect decor accessory - art in a home should mean something to the folks who live there. 😉

Round mirror will work just fine

Art should appeal to you. My input would be that the piece should be no wider than the firebox below and should hang about 5" above the mantel. I agree that the corbels need to go. Think in terms of layering decor if you keep a mirror. Spread it away from art so the subject matter can be admired. Keep added decor items large enough to be identified from the seating.

Does anyone here have the ability to place a round mirror in the picture? and then place the horse painting in thr picture so i can see a visual and decide which looks better?

Mirrors should only be placed where they reflect a beautiful light source back into the room, such as a chandelier or a window. Otherwise it is dull and serves no purpose.

Go with artwork from a local artist or greatbigcanvas. IMO, you already have plenty of animal art around the house, please don't add any more. A theme is okay but the danger is looking like a gift shop.
