It seems like so many lighting showrooms have closed down in the last few years, and I really like to see things in person before buying, particularly things that both expensive, and fragile in case I have to repack to return.

We're doing a renovation in NYC, and will need lots of lighting and fixtures. Because of various co-op rules (iykyk) there are all sorts of requirements, and I would like to go somewhere and see what might work. We need various hanging fixtures and flush mounts for the dining room, living room, and kitchen.

Years and years ago you could go down to the Bowery and the streets were lined with lighting stores, but I've been told that's no longer the case.

Any suggestions for places to look?
