If you go ahead and paint the cabinets you should just replace the backsplash. It's the least expensive part of a kitchen makeover. And your cabinets were lovely before you started putting splotches of white paint on them. :-) It takes a lot of prep work to paint wood cabinets. You can't just put wall paint on them without any prep and expect it to last. You would have been better off buying peel and stick samples from Samplize.com. You're not going to be able to determine which white is best sampling on your cabinets. The color of the cabinets affects your perception of color. I suggest you try BM White Dove and/or SW Pure White or Snowbound. Hire a professional to spraypaint the doors as this will give you the best result after proper prep. If you're planning to DIY, research the correct method.

If you want your cabinets painted, its super important to paint them correctly. Prep takes a long time, the correct tools, technique and actual paint. I do paint furniture occasionally and if it isnt prepped and painted properly, it will look worse than it does now inside of a year. If they are sturdy quality cabinets it may be worth having them professionally done by an experienced cabinet painter. To answer your question, youre going to have to get large color samples because although you can get ballpark ideas, everybodies home has multiple lighting types which will make paint look different in rooms within the same home.

You can order stick on color samples that will give you a much better idea of the actual color. Samplize

Without prepping the cabinets properly (sanding-priming-paint) you won't get a true picture of the paint color.

I would change the backsplash it is dated and doesn't work with the cool white of the counter. Besides you have a quartz backsplash already.

Embrace the cool blue-grey in the counter for a wall color.

Remove the backsplash there is no way to mix that with the new counters . BTW the cabinets need huge prep work before painting and IMO never DIY cabinet painting unless you have done many smaller cabinet paintin g projects. To start all drawer fronts and doors need to be sprayed so you need a place that is dust free and has no air movement. You need to use the right paint and the color is chosen on a poster board not tested on the doors. What is going on there with the piece of counter material in front of the backsplash I hope that is just leaning there and no attached.

To me..... to update your kitchen you would only need to replace your backsplash and replace your cabinet hardware. The wood cabinets do not need to be painted.

We all learn life lessons as we being our journey through DIY renovations.

Kitchens are really expensive to replace, so sometimes we look for less expensive, quick updates, but you still need to know what you are doing, look at pictures, get some guidance before just jumping in with two feet.

What you don't want to do is try to save money and end up having to replace everything, costing you far more than if you had just done things correctly the first time.

The countertop looks as though it was a handyman special, as a good installer would not have used the 3" backsplash directly over the original backsplash. How you are going to get the old backsplash off if it is truly wedged under the other backsplash may prove problematic.

Throwing a coat of paint over fairly nice wood cabinets is not the right thing to do.

If you had hopeless cabinets and couldn't afford new it may be an improvement. With your cabinets, doing a quick DIY paint job will make things worse, not better.

Clean the paint off the cabinet you started painting, get some pictures of your whole kitchen, give us some idea of what you want as an end result and maybe we can help.

Replacing the backsplash would be a much better investment than painting the cabinets.

The backsplash really clashes with the counter top in both color and style.

Perhaps swapping out the beiege electrical plates, etc with white would help

I agree with the other cabinets. Easier and cheaper to get rid of the backsplash and keep the wood cabinets. It's actually a nice wood tone and this is coming from someone who hates most wood cabinets in the kitchen. I'd get a cool toned white backsplash that won't draw too much attention, get rid of the quartz backsplash and maybe some brushed gold pulls instead of those brushed nickel knobs for the cabinets.
