Please share your thoughts about Cristallo Quartzite.

I am leaning towards this countertop for kitchen island, countertops and backsplash. Island and backsplash will be backlit. The cabinets are black stained oak. Please share photos if you have Cristallo with dark countertops.

Cristallo and Iceberg are the same things in some markets. No issues with staining or etching, but you'll want to confirm with your own slab. In fact, you can't even seal it because it's almost like glass and it doesn't absorb anything. I have a version of it in my own home called Lucent. I did recently have a chip that had to be repaired, but I have also had chips in my quartz countertops. It is very pricey so expect to pay much more for it than other quartzites like Taj Mahal. Here it is in a more traditional kitchen.

Cristallo quartzite seems to be all the rage right now—we’re getting at least three new requests a week to backlight this material. It’s absolutely stunning when lit from behind and really brings out the natural crystalline structure of the stone.

A few things to consider if you’re thinking about backlighting Cristallo:
• It works best with an ultra-thin edge-lit LED panel layered directly beneath the slab—no bulky boxes needed.
• The clarity and light transmission of Cristallo is excellent, but keep in mind that the veining and inclusions can affect how evenly the light distributes, which is actually part of the charm.
• Be sure to allow for a small air gap or use a clear acrylic layer to help diffuse the light more evenly behind the slab.
• Our panels are typically 1/4” to 5/16” thick, so they integrate easily into most countertop or backsplash applications without adding bulk.

If you’re planning to use this for a full kitchen island or backsplash like in your project, it can really become the centerpiece of the space. Happy to share more tips if helpful.
