Can you either give some measurements or take another photo with something like a quarter or a pen in the photo some we can tell scale.

i can’t tell if there is any twist to it. IME often but not always coyote scat has a bit of a twist.

Any seeds or fur visible? IME here in central NH, bears often have gorged on one particular food, so I may see almost all corn or lots of cherry seeds or blackberry seeds.

I think it’s coyote. no visible seeds or hair just a big black extrusion. Took this photo before husband threw it away so can’t check for anything else until we get new ones.

I agree that coyotes is most likely based on size and shape. often around here coyote scat will have deer fur and may have seeds.

I’m afraid for my small dogs.

With good reason. my 25 lb dog doesn’t go outside without me.
