How should we finish the Cabin loft??

Recently bought a 2bd/2bath cabin with an approximately 600sqf unfinished loft. How should we finish it? I like the idea of a bedroom /game room but the awkward layout is difficult!

It looks like a lot of space. Do you have a drawing with dimensions you could post? If you don't have a bathroom up there it wouldn't be the best place for a bedroom, plus the openness is less than ideal as well. Noise will travel from the first to second floor easily. It depends on the ages and abilities of the people who might sleep up there. For instance, small children and older people no, but older children might love it. Ultimately you'll have to decide what the best use is for you. If you're not sure, use it for a while until it becomes clear.

I don’t have a draw up but I will work on getting one! But yes the openness is definitely less than ideal. I would be willing to partially enclose it for more privacy. It is a lot of space and I’m really struggling on how to make it more functional. It isn’t the best design lay out and I don’t have the best design eye lol. But there is a half bath up there that we will be adding a shower too!

If you expect guests at the cabin, then definitely consider bedroom space. We have a small two bedroom cabin with sofa beds in the living room and three season porch. We often have both bedrooms as well as the sofas full of friends and family. Certainly a lack of privacy, but no one seems to care. They just love being there! If you can actually walk off one bedroom, that would be great. If you have kids or grand kids, a bunk room might be the perfect thing.

This is our full time home. It is currently just us so when we do have a guest they stay in the second bedroom. And when we have multiple guests we also just do air mattresses and sleeping bags up top! I’m hoping to finish it with long term in mind, if we do eventually have kids, or we do resale I would like to finish it and make the space as functional as possible. Someone else mentioned making it a master suit the other day and I do like that idea. I worry about lack of privacy but maybe some partial enclosure could be done.

You could look into closing off the entire loft space so that you could easily have bedrooms and a place to play games. It looks like it could be big enough to do a lot in. The stairs could easily be kept as well it looks like. Below are some inspiration photos for you from a recent design we did for a client.
