    I like it!

I think it could be used tastefully in certain situations. It doesn't scream red nor pink but alludes to both.

I like it too. It just seems happy!

I like it as well! My younger days color choice for a ”pop of color” in clothing when wearing a dark suit for work.

    I like it too.

Funny but when I look at the swatch, it's not what I think of as magenta. To me, it's more of a cranberry. Magenta has much more pink in it and is more "shocking" as I think of it.

I'm going to disagree. Dark purpley blue red combinations are honestly my least favorite colors. To me, they look like old bruises.

It's quite a bit different than the Sherwin Williams color of the year

But in the same general spirit as the Benjamin Moore color of the year

I kind of like that brick-ish color, it reminds me of my early-90s kitchen color. 2020s me might use it in a home office or powder room. it looks like it might light s u c k which is a concern.

My techie kids were telling me about the Pantone/Adobe controversy. $0 to $180 per year is pretty bold.

I like the saturation and vibrancy.

These are not that exact color, but similar. I like seeing how others use such a strong color.

I’m so in love with this first kitchen. See more on Shavonda Gardner’s IG or blog. Iirc, she posted the cabinet color as SW Burgundy. The wallpaper is custom:

    Full of character:

So beautiful with this blue tile:

I want to pair magenta with this paper:

I love that color, and painted our kitchen hutch a similar color, BM Cherry Burst, a couple of years ago. I’ll post a pic after it gets the holiday treatment, which is planned for this afternoon. if I posted now, it would show real life - a box o’ pinot noir, candles burned down to near oblivion and plenty of dust and dog hair. So, yeah, not posting that, even though I merrily live with it about 90% of the time.

Magenta was my favorite crayon color as a kid. Blouses were colored magenta and pants and skirts were colored blue green. I still like both to this day and use deep magenta flowers in my garden. Pantone's is more red/orange than the color I loved as a kid.

My powder room is a similar color and over the past few years, I have been trying to scatter more and more of it throughout my home. Love it but find it a difficult color to match. Whenever I think I am picking something the same shade it never has enough blue or has too much of something else, turns out too orange or too pink or too whatever. Too match matchy isn't a good thing anyway. This color family makes me smile.

Magenta is between red and blue and this colour appears to be on the red end of magenta. I colour I would never use or wear.

Magenta is a "nope" from me - although, like Eileen, it was one of my favorite crayons - probably because it was an unusual shade.

The Pantone swatch (as my monitor shows it) has enough shading toward red to be tolerable.

I like that. I'd buy clothing that color but not likely I'd use it in my decor though I do have braided rugs at my lake cabin that have something very close to that as the primary color.

Love it and I wear it all the time but I don't decorate much with it.

It does read more cranberry to me, especially in the photo (or faded brick in the sample). My front door is not far from that, just a tone or two deeper.

The SW color looks like they want to sell a lot of paint for houses. It's pretty neutral. At the same time, in clothing I'd think it is best left to pants and skirts. It may wash out a lot of people.

I could see the color in someone else's home and possibly even enjoy it there. But its not for me. Not in my furnishings, my clothing, my makeup....just not my color. The only 'pink' shade I've ever worn or included in my home is blush and that's not going to change. There is a little in my garden but not planted by me.

I like magenta, though I agree Pantone's color is a bit warmer than what I usually think of as magenta. I have a lot of magenta in my wardrobe, my glasses, my hair. Not so much in my decor.

That bright color Annie posted is what I think of as fuchsia, not magenta.

Magenta and blue green are my favorite colors for crayons, and painting, too. Magenta with yellow added makes red, and when you mix magenta and blue green , you can get the prettiest violet.

If you mix magenta and white, you can get a pretty bright pink, but it does depend on the magenta. I've purchased lots of paints for arts and crafts over the decades and magenta is one color that does vary from one manufacturer to another. Some are quite dark, like the Pantone version, others are more bright.

And I like that Pantone magenta - it reminds me of cinnabar.

I love it. One if my favorite colors. The combination of magenta and flax with a touch of orange is one of my favorites.

    Hmmm. Fuschia vs magenta?

I like it too. I would call it a rosy red. I love magenta in my garden.

I saw photos of a different Viva Magenta ad on The NY Times digital page and it leaned way pinker, into "no thanks" category. I like Annie's version, or "pigment of my imagination" as rox called it, much better.

I'm just now going to lighten the color in my FR which is very similar to the color in #4 and I painted the walls in my kitchen years ago to a color similar to #1. I'm so behind the times, that I actually start coming back in style again, just as I'm about to change it!

The Sherwin Williams Color of the Year for 2023 has gotten a mostly negative, visceral response on the general forum.

I do like the #1 color in Annie's link. Annie, show us your kitchen!

I love it! I agree with Annie, it's more cranberry than magenta.

    raee, my kitchen...

Thanks Annie! Love it! The little curve in the flooring to echo the island top - what a neat idea!

Thank you raee...that curve ... segmental arch... is echoed throughout the house. It's in the soffit too. The kitchen is open to the FR and the breakfast nook, so we wanted a visual break to make the rooms feel separate without an actual wall.

Have there been other Pantone sneakers?

I could not live with that magenta. It's too loud. Maybe an accent here for a splash of color would be nice.

While I never would have condsidered their color to be magenta, I like it. Very similiar to the color I used on the front door of my previous house. The paint was called ”Indian Red”. I was very happy with the color; still the same three owners later.

My living room sofa is a similiar color too. Not for long though, it has faded and I am ready for a new color.

I live and die for my neutrals, but magenta is one of my favourite ways to elevate the pale shades.

I don't think there is one picture posted by everyone above (thanks for the inspiration!) that I don't like.

I just loooove how magenta and other vivid colors(orange) have been used here ( even in the Persian rug ). For me , the BALANCE, with lots of neutrals , some small elements of other vivid colors like the black, and some softer colors , is what makes all the difference . 😍🤩🧐 It is akin to having the right ingredient proportions in a delicious recipe.
