Help with guest bedroom fabrics

I am redecorating a guest bedroom. We have settled on using Schumacher's Creeping Fern fabric in Dune to reupholster a Thomas O'Brien for Hickory Chair bed and using Benjamin Moore Beacon Gray as wall paint. The BM Beacon Gray is more blue the gray. The paint color and headboard fabric are very similar to the photo below and we are using it for inspiration. We will likely use a similar bedding as the picture. I am looking for suggestion on complementary fabrics for a chair, rug, curtains, and decorative pillows for the bed. Thanks for the help everyone!

Beautiful bedroom … originally done by Alexa Hampton.

You’re asking a lot and it’s near impossible to advise without seeing the room, the windows, the actual furniture and paint color, your lighting, your flooring, the exact bedding, etc.

We can all throw out fabrics we like, but there’s no way of knowing if they’ll be cohesive in your room because we have no idea what anything looks like.

What is the status of the room right now? Do you have anything in there? What kind of chair do you have? What decor style(s) do you like … how are your other rooms decorated?

I’d wait until the bed is done and in the room, and the walls painted. Post pictures then. Better yet, hire a trusted local ID. This could be a very special room.

    Just for fun —

Pillows are fairly easy. I think this orange Scalamandre fabric would look fantastic with the inspiration bedroom. But again, that’s not your room, so I can’t say if it would work for you.

    Love this reddish coral Thibaut

This more subdued Thibaut is lovely, too, if the oranges and reds are too bold:

Would enjoying seeing how it all turns out, I love this style. :)

Hi Jinx! Thank you for your thoughts. Very much a work in progress. The Visual Comfort lamp and Hickory Chair bed and nightstand will stay. I may add a Barbara Barry chest in a corner of the room that I have in another room (pic below). Am thinking maybe the below chair reupholstered and a floor lamp in the other corner but not decided on that yet. Not sure if the chair is right for the decor yet or not. Other rooms are traditional with a modern twist. A lot of Barbara Barry, Suzanne Kasler, Thomas O'Brien, and Alex Hampton furniture and fixtures.

Lovely pieces! I hope the chair works, it’s a great style. I could see a wonderful Scalamandre or Thibaut fabric on it.

When do you anticipate having the bed done? I think that and bedding will help as a starting point.

It’s hard to tell on computer monitors, they’re all different … mine is showing your paint swatch to have a purplish tint. But that could be due to various factors.

Are you wanting to introduce other colors, or stay more with the tan/blue/white scheme?

Looking to stay tan/blue/white. Good add some green for sure though. The Beacon Gray definitely has some lavender undertones but very much a light blue. I'd say the pictures in the following post represent its true color fairly well.

I like this fabric for a pillow on the bed but not sure if it shouldnt be a more delicate floral.

Was thinking maybe Schumacher Ivins in Ivory or Sky for the chair cushion? Picking what I like isnt difficult, it's putting it all together!

It is not the brightest room in the world so trying to keep it relatively light and neutral. The room has basically sat empty since we moved in. I do like the BM Beacon Gray but any other suggestions on paint that might go with what I am looking to do? I love the blue in the inspiration photo I posted and think Beacon Gray is pretty close.

Usually would not finalize wall paint until you’ve selected your main fabrics. It’s fine and quite helpful to collect paint sample squares to be your inspo for fabric collections also, but even with blues, you might find a luscious fabric that needs a slightly different paint color, and paint choice is almost infinite.

IMO the bedding drives the overall look and feel of a bedroom so post the exact bedding you want . I happen to like the color of your headboard much more than the beige textured one.

You are using some very high end fabrics and furniture. Are you in the trade? If not, you would do better with hiring a design professional who could advise you better than anyone on Houzz, and possibly get you a better price. Seeing the room and fabrics/furniture in person in the space is a much better way to decide than posting photos on the internet.

Oh bummer!! I actually spoke to Amal via Instagram a while back and she told me the same. She didnt have the color as it was already there.

Sorry, I accidentally deleted my last post trying to add a photo. I’d seen years ago where Alexa shared it, but now can’t find it.

Your room is so charming! It’s going to look great. :)

Beautiful fabrics! Why not take the one with the blue ground to Sherwin Williams or something and have them make a paint that matches precisely and really embrace the jewel-box nature of the room? (Paint ceiling, too?)
