Quickset and schlage both make lever door handles in Chrome and they have lasted a lot longer than two years for us.

Hmmmmm. Not sure what to make of this comment. I'm trying to find out who made my handle. Thanks, I guess, for telling me your levers are better....?

I found it. This is the "Door Lever Set Closet / Hall / Passage Function Dakota Collection" in Chrome at harneyhardware.com.

I think what Mojavemaria meant is that if the lever broke from regular wear and tear after only 2 years of use maybe you should replace it with something of better quality, Schlage and Kwikset being two very reliable brands.

I have Kwikset doorknobs and locks on my 1989 built home and all are still functioning properly today.
