Would this sofa look weird?

I have the Willow slipcovered sofa from Crate & Barrel from many years ago. I’d like to change up the look and am considering having it recovered without the slipcover.

Here are some pictures of the sofa without its slipcover. Tell me - would this sofa look strange recovered without a slipcover? Should I just buy a different sofa if I don’t want the slipcovered look anymore? Thanks in advance!

I don't think it would look weird recovered at all. Go for it.

It's a classic tuxedo style sofa. Reupholster or slipcover it. Both good!

Reupholster it, but get new cushions--the back cushions are especially sad looking.

IMO by the time you gt the fabric and pay for uphostery work you could IMO but the same quality sofa as you like it. As for how it will look it will be fine I do agree one seat one back and make sure they are flippable so the same fabric on both sides of the cushions. I never found C&B sofas all thta high end.

I feel like you would be able to get a similar quality new tuxedo sofa for the same price as reupholstering this, particularly if you use a plain neutral fabric.

I am all for reupholstering furniture, but the underlying frame has to be worth recovering.

It's a very standard sofa style.

As others have posted, by the time you have bought material and paid the upholstery shop, you would probably be able to purchase an equal quality sofa.

When I remodeled and redecorated, I did have some chairs reupholstered as well as having the upholsterer do a custom sofa, chaise and occasional chairs.

The only reason I reupholstered the chairs were that they had unique and beautiful wood frames so I would not have been able to purchase anything equivalent in stye new. Having it done was not inexpensive.

I had new custom stuff done because I got exactly what I wanted and the cost was the same or less as what new similar quality items would be.

It wouldn't seem odd to me at all if you recovered. Get new cushions instead of reupholstering them because the back cushions seem particularly dull. Try it out.

If you're a DIYer and have some basic sewing skills or know someone who does, this is a very easy style sofa to create a slipcover for or to reupholster yourself. My own very first reupholster project was a tuxedo sofa.

In most cases having a sofa reupholstered will cost the same or more than buying a new sofa unfortunately.

im all for reupholstering your sofa - if it's comfy and the right shape, go for it - people are too quick to just 'buy a new one' because it's almost the same price to recover. BeverlyFLADeziner reference pics are great, even just going with two tubular cushions as either end rather than the square ones you currently have

Another factor to consider is time. Many manufacturers are quoting 6-8 month lead times. I can have my upholsterer redo a sofa in 2 weeks.

You can get a sofa done by a local upholsterer pretty quickly here, too. The problem may be the fabric. I have gotten things quickly, but I waited 16 weeks for something else.

Yes, @palimpsest if the fabric is back ordered or out of stock, then you have a delay. The trick is to find enough fabric in stock so you don't have to wait. Even with the shortages, there seems to be enough good stock in lots of fabrics--prices are another story!
