This is the foyer, which opens to the dining room to the left, and the living room (also unfinished) to the right. (Ikea dining table is gone now)

You need a sideboard if you want to have storage or a surface to serve anything in this room. If you are lucky the chairs will not arrive. The table needs chairs that are more important visually. The chairs for this table should be taller and beefier than the green ones.

Beautiful house. Those windows can use some roman shades at the very least. A sideboard that is long enough on either wall (art wall or window wall) can hold plates, serving ware etc., The art in your house is beautiful, especially the large canvas across the stairs. In the dining room however it looks like that Art on the wall is a tad bit too high. Sconces too. Just reminding you to keep it at proper eye level (approx 60 inch middle). Personally I'd put the sideboard(s) on the window wall. Wainscoting in this room would have looked nice too. As for the chairs, it's a beautiful green. That table is more traditional/craftsman than it is contemporary. Those chairs seem too small to be around the table. Thicker legs and backing would look more cohesive. Try to stay away from iron/metal looking chairs.

Thanks for the suggestions. What do you think of something like this light green chair from World Market that I moved from another room? Or this green one from Anthropologie?

Or is the table just totally wrong for that room? It’s not at all what I expected, and I hate that traditional look. But it’s not returnable 😢. Do you think I could improve this one by putting a different veneer on top? Something funky like the green/gold scallop pattern on this commode? It’s a printed sticker. Or a thin marble topper? I would definitely prefer to make the room look less traditional with the things I add.
