You have not indicated the bulbs you purchased.

There is all manner of clear glass bulbs. If these are too bright then select one with lower wattage or equivalent wattage.

Put the lights on a dimmer. Actually, put all the lights in the house on dimmers. You want LED bulbs.

As recommended above, I'd install dimmers before changing the bulbs. Lutron LED+ dimmers are the best in my opinion.

Clear glass shade is going to give you glare no matter what. They are great and pretty in pictures but can be really harsh in reality. If you start to lessen the wattage and kelvin, you are also going to reduce the amount of available light that helps you see what you are doing in the bathroom and kitchen. My eyes are super sensitive to light and I have poor vision. Frosted glass is useful for bright lights without the glare.

you could try an R14 or Par20 short neck LED mr16. they will only put light down from the pendants down side is the bulb is not that attractive, up side the bulb is really short so it may blend away.

IMO the only these fixtures will look attractive is to use clear, Edison-style LED bulbs such as those pictured, controlled by a dimmer set low enough to not bother your eyes when you look at them. They won't offer task lighting.
