You could also add an area rug to the mix and a mirror, hooks, and small shelf on the wall for jacket, small pocket items to land.

I don't know what you mean by modern, but I think the bed and floor are great. Is this a Spanish or Mediterranean style house? Do you also use this room as a home office? Get new bed linens, a rug, curtains and replace the ceiling light fixture. If you want to continue to have a desk in the room, get something that fits the room better. Since you're keeping the ceiling, doors and windows, don't fight the style of the room and try to make it something it isn't.

What about doing something like this? Don't pay attention to ceiling light fixture. But I am not sure if I should keep the floor with a sand color or more a brownish as the original picture 🤔

Also going for a black table may not be the best fit. What do you guys think?

Very nice!! I think the existing floor would be great with these furnishings.

Below are a few bedroom ideas which might work for you. It might be nice to look at getting a rug to put on the floor and then use some updated furniture and bedding.
