Stihl GTA 26; I bloody love mine. In fact, I am on my second one since the first was stolen from the truck. If you get some, buy an extra battery as well. The batteries last around 45 minutes and take 70 minutes to recharge. There are all sorts of cheapo ones but I honestly think, with tools, you get what you pay for...and either Stihl or Husquevarna have been my go-to chainsaw and woodland workhorses for a long time - never let me down.

Mine cost £150...I think about $170 in your money...and an extra battery was another £30.

Oh, I looked at the Stihl and weights 2.7 lb. That is too heavy for a one-handed tool for me.

O, that's a shame. I didn't really think about weight when I got it. and it hasn't really hampered my use in any way. I would suggest trying one at a dealership, as the shape and balance were important for me (I have small hands).

Ah, now I have been looking at electric pruners and realise my Stihl is actually more like a mini-chainsaw. It has a little 4inch bar and guard and can easily chop through 70mm branches. Like a chainsaw, you can also use the toe of the bar to get into crannies.

Gulp, The Stihl ASA 85 pruners cost around £1300!!! That's more than I spent on my main chainsaw

It might have been. I have trouble searching for things. I did post about sawzalls, too -- bought one based on a board rec = what a time and body saver!

Is a sawzall a reciprocating saw? I have a Metabo cordless saw but it is a beast...and the battery weighs a ton too.

Yes. Sawzall is Milwaukee's brand of reciprocating saw, but a lot of people just call all of them sawzalls - like all facial tissue is Kleenex. Here in the midwest, anyway. I bought a Dewalt.

btw.. with the sawzall.. reciprocating saw.. spend the extra few bucks. and buy a TREE SAW BLADE ... they have the big gaping teeth ... to move wet saw dust out of the cutting channel ..

go figure that dry wood construction saws dont work well on trees..

Back on topic -- does anyone have any recs for a good electric hand-held pruner?

I don’t have one yet, but am considering getting one; some tasks just can’t be done easily with a mini reciprocating saw or a mini chain saw...I had a lot of trouble cutting down small buckthorn trees last year…the wood doesn’t seem to cut easily. I’ll likely get a Ryobi or Bosch, because that’s what I already have batteries for. I didn’t realize these battery powered hand pruners were so expensive!!

I think you can try KOMOK's JYH-606, the maximum cutting diameter of 1.2" has two batteries and can work for about 8 hours each time.
