IMO quartzite is perfect choice for counters .I love the look for sure but IMO plished granite is usually my go to

One major downfall of quartzite that you will not see in granite is staining. Quartzite is highly resistant to scratching, etching, and chipping but staining can be a problem if not cared for properly. To increase your quartzite countertop's stain resistance, you can seal the surface as an extra layer of protection.

I just saw one at my local stone yard, it looks so beautiful. I wonder how it will do in the kitchen - probably similar to a marble

You have to personally test to find your answers. Do not believe a stone salesperson please.

Had the exact same experience however my sales person told me it was not a true quartzite and behave more like a marble or dolomite.
