Help with Heat Pump

last modified: 3 years ago

so apparently we have a heat pump in our home. and in the winter (now) it will not heat the house. the temp this morning when we woke up was 61 and no heat was coming out. ive read they are in effictive when outside temps drop below 40. i heard that there ia suoposed to be a back up heating element for when this happens but that has not kicked in. we changed the thermostate when we first moved in and now im wondering if its the thermostat thats not triggering the back up. please help we are freezing

we have the WYZE thermostat. there originally was a honeywell thermostat
