Help with throw pillow selection

Having trouble finding the right combination of throw pillows for this multi-color rug & light grey sofa combo. I have some options (currently pictured) but haven’t decided whether or not to keep any.

Would love to get some ideas or suggestions!

I wouldn't try to match any of the rug colors. Your navy throw and the round dark pillow are the best colors on your sofa. I would do more of those with some textured grey ones mixed in.

Love your rug. Personally I don't think pillows look good on a sofa with puffy back cushions. 1 in the right corner is enough and a throw. This looks staged right not now. I would look for a throw closer to the blue in the rug - the navy is stark - and not solid colored pillows.

Nice rug! I'd eliminate the white pillows. Move the throw to near tp the round pillows and change it to a white throw.

The blue in the rug appears more teal, so I would change the round pillow to teal.

I would also add drapes to the windows

Please show photos of all 4 walls of the room. Thanks.

Thinks, all! Here are the other walls of the room. Kind of an odd setup.

Thanks! A challenging space, but you have done well so far.

I'd move the rug to that it covers the door.....so pull it out so that just the front legs of the sectional sit on the rug.

    Do you use the fireplace?

to soften the look, try pulling the sectional away from the windows a little bit.

@CDR Design - thank you! No, we don’t use the fireplace.

Welcome! Have you considered drywalling it in?

What is the adjacent empty room? Is this room with the sectional just a keeping room and is there another family room?

Trying to get a sense of what is going on here. Thanks

I hadn't considered that yet, but that's certainly a possibility! The adjacent empty room is still to be determined. It will most likely be a sitting area, because I don't think it's large enough to make into a family room.

I see. Sounds like you have 2 smaller rooms, neither a good size for a family room.

Yeh, that tv looks oddly large over smaller fireplace.

Maybe eventually a wall can be removed. House has a lot of potential!

IMO Etsy is a great source for pillow covers. Most creative patterns and best prices.

IMO if you need to move the pillows to sit then you have too many pillows. Why not a nice throw over an arm on the sofa or angled across the back if you want some color.

Thanks, Patricia! When you say "angled across the back" do you have any photos I can reference?

Hi- I think the navy, rust and cream are great colors in throw pillows, but not as solid color throw pillows.

I love prints and texture in throw pillows, and large ones.

By texture, I mean velvet, chenille, suede, leather, luxurious trims.

Lumbar pillows do nothing for me, but I suppose you should have one for the person whose back needs it.

My back needs a very dense, firm foam pillow, no squishy feathers for me!

I love the rug, it is great.

    Here are some ideas.

I don't care for light blue at all.

The cranberry colored one doesn't work for me... maybe try a solid coral/salmon one, preferably one with texture.

Nice rug! Can you scootch it over so that the center of rug is more centered under the coffee table?
