I love the parsley and fennel pictures and the rudbeckias. Is rudbeckia triloba invasive, Magpie? I have tons of low growing rudbeckia that come up all over the place. Sunflowers are not easy for me but I like them.

I have to include Graham Thomas because it's so yellow-

@erasmus_gw last season was my first ever with the rudbeckia triloba blooming, so it remains to be seen how much it will reseed. I will let you know later in the season! I did really enjoy the look of it though. As for sunflowers, they seem very hit and miss for people. They grow like weeds in my garden, self sowing VERY prolifically even in awful parts of my yard and in the cracks between patio pavers, but it must just be my yard's specific conditions that they like because I can't take any credit for how well they do. I do nothing for them. Your yellow yarrow looks like the Parker's variety yarrow, which I started from seed recently to plant in my garden come spring :)

@erasmus_gw where did you get your Well-being? It's gorgeous.

I'll probably try some other sunflowers sometime. I like yellow...was going to buy coreopsis seed this spring but decided on a peach gaillardia. Might want to try a helianthemum. What all are you growing from seed, Magpie? I started some under lights already but think I started them too early as many are up and my hollyhocks are putting on size fast. Am really excited about the seeds.

Librarian, I don't remember where I got Well Being. Most likely it was in a cuttings trade. I don't keep records but guess I should. Well Being can be a lot stronger yellow and often has either pink or rust edges. It has a very sweet, strong fragrance, good health, good bushy shape, plenty of vigor but it is not a huge plant, and it reblooms well. It's good own-root and is plenty hardy in zone 7a.

Kristine, that's such a neat stripey picture with the one contrarian bloom. Those are beautiful lilies and roses and the sunset picture is really fine. Dramatic.

@erasmus_gw, I've got a lot of seed to start this year as usual. Seed starting is just as much an addiction for me as roses! I've got 2 types of yarrow, delphinium, Columbine, stock flower, rudbeckia "Irish Eyes", tomato, pepper, lobelia, salvia, salpiglossis, dahlia, 2 types of agastache, scabiosa, coreopsis, lace flower, Matsumoto asters, nicotiana, 4 o'clocks, sea Holly, fox glove, pansies, blackberry lily, and that's all I can think of right now.

Gargamel, I love that out of control look too.

Magpie, I tried salpiglossis a few years ago from seed . I had wanted to grow it for maybe a few decades. Finally got to see a bloom or two and they were indeed pretty but the plants were spindly and I didn't try again. Would like to hear how yours do.

I'm trying some seeds this year that might not do well here but I just want to try them: Baby Blue Eyes and another spotted nemophila, Scabiosa Fama Deep Blue, and some that are likely to do ok: hollyhocks Creme de Cassis, dwarf cosmos, gaillardia, alyssum, Gomphrena Las Vegas, agaratum Blue Horizon, Salvia Fairy Queen.. larkspurs, Excelsior foxgloves, tomato Better Boy, and I have a lot of other vegetable seeds if I can find any room for them.

A nearby library has a seed exchange which is really neat. They also have cake pans you can check out!

I have Four 'O Clocks which self seed vigorously but they stay in one area of my yard.

Michelia figo aka Magnolia figo or just Banana Shrub! Very underused and under rated plant in the south. I get strong vanilla and banana fragrance on warm afternoons. It is an evergreen and can get 10ft tall and is a good screening out plant.

I only grow two yellow-flowered perennials, Forsythtia and Opuntia humifusa cacti.

These "Hardy cacti" are in a huge containers, others are in the ground. WARNING: they will spread in the ground, and are VERY PRICKLY! I both LOVE and HATE THEM all at once!

Honey Dijon is a thick, creamy, saturated yellow. Yellow is not my thing, but I love this one. Just look at those stamens.
