I always take a look! Haven't hit the Walmart yet, but did cruise by Home Depot last week. They had a 'Frances Meilland' that didn't look bad, and a lot of 'Therese Bugnet' (loved that rose in Massachusetts -- nothing fazed it). The body-bag, grade 1 1/2 'Just Joey' I bought for something like $3.00 from the old Orchard Supply Hardware (sadly killed off after being acquired by Lowes) was spectacular for at least a dozen years until it suddenly died:

catspa, that is so pretty! Big store body bags can often be quite good as long as they look as though they haven't had to sit around too long. It's amazing how badly roses want to live given even half a chance.

It turned out that all three of my body bag plants were correctly named! Two are really growing beautifully and the other one is doing fairly well. I forgot to save the bags but I'm thinking they were from Certified Roses. The varieties offered, the lack of wax on the canes, the correct ID's, and the health of them all say good things about their bagged roses.

I got a Sally Holmes body bag at Menards for 7 bucks that is doing just as well as the $30 one I had preordered.

I also got 2 roses that were from my surprise cancelled order from DA, Roserie de L'Hay and Zepherine Drouhin, from Home Depot, $14 each, that grew so fast when I got them in the ground it seems unreal. I like their new version of body bags, the tall plastic pot with a lid. They were waxed, but it doesn't seem to have hindered them in any way.

I got a cheap body bag of Sally Holmes that is grafted and has already taken off and bloomed. Before that I got an tiny own root SH from Country Gardens. Which has done nothing. If you can find good body bags that look healthy. Go for it! I also got body bags of Blue Girl and Don Juan this spring that are doing well. I'm mad I couldnt find Lavender Crush at our crappy Walmarts lol. I would prob grab 4 if I did.
