Thanks so much!!!! Do you did satin on the walls? Is that shinier than eggshell

Some SW lines like Emerald call it eggshell, and some (super paint) call it satin.  They're the same though.  I used satin/eggshell on the walls.

There is only one color system and every paint brand (and every other industry you can think of) uses it to make and manage color.

The color data values, think of it as color DNA, for SW Alabaster are the same for all brands and product lines -- everyone is trying to hit the same numbers within a reasonable range with reasonable accuracy.

Not many people know this because the internet is saturated with bs information about paint and color.

So it's understandable how someone could simplify a color appearance issue as being nothing more than a product choice.

I prefer flat finish for walls and ceiling. I have SW Alabaster, flat finish in whole house. Love it. I have SW Pure White trim in a semi-gloss. Ceiling white on ceilings. Looks great. We do have high ceilings. I also like doing ceilings in wall color and finish. Depends on lines and look I want. Lower ceilings are great when painted same color as walls. Makes rooms feel bigger and cozier IMO.

@flo May I see what your walls with ceiling color look like? I’m thinking of the ‘suede’ finish. I need to be able to wash them with my DD

Sure. Different light at different times of day make all colors look slightly different.

It’s very hard to tell any difference with these two surfaces.

There is Alabaster from Benjamin Moore and then Alabaster from Sherwin Williams

I would not use anything shinier than Eggshell on the walls.
