What if you got a six paneled door or something that matched your decore, where one of the small, lower panels was hinged or slid up. That way, at night it could be opened, but during the day when the cat was not in there, it could be shut and unnoticed? It would have to be custom-made, but doable in DIY or by a local craftsperson.

I know, not really what you were looking for, but I humbly present the thought anyway as a work-around???

I think the real question is if the cat wants to sleep with your daughter. Are you moving with the cat or are you getting a cat when you move to the new house? In my experience cats pick where they sleep and it might not be your daughter's room.
