Ours is under the sink and has been in all the homes we have owned.

Not as convenient.

Move dishwasher over.

In island, if you have one, but not as convenient to sink. Not sure why being under sink is not recommended; it’s a handy location and a good use of wasted space.

Mine is as pictured in Maureen’s first photo. I worried about it at the time, but it hasn’t been a problem. Having 2 dishwashers has been wonderful.

Many who have a kitchen large enough for two DW have more than one sink. There is often a sink for food prep on an island.

Many of the large kitchens have one DW adjacent to the dining room, and one DW adjacent to the kitchen eat-in area.

If I were to have a kitchen with double dishwashers I'd have them set up like Beverly said since I'd only use the second one for big party's. One by the main sink and the second by a secondary clean up sink. That way the main sink stays open and dirty dishes are in the secondary one.

Some people dream of two dishwashers so that one is always dirty, the other is always clean, and you never have to put the dishes & silverware away :-)

I wonder, does it work like that or am I just fooling myself....

Some people keep a Kosher kitchen, and have two dishwashers for that reason.

I am not remotely religious, but we ended up with a spare, single dish drawer, and installed it in addition to our full size DW. We have found that we love the convience.

At the end of the counter run by the back door where we take the trash out.

Where is your kitchen plan and layout? Is this for Kosher? Or "Convenience".

With either? I find it best.....Separate locations, and each with a sink. Sinks need not match.

But. For most after the convenience and not the religious aspect involved? It simply ends up being a hot mess of both full of dirty and not run, or both clean and not unloaded and still a pile of dirty in the sink...or both half full and still a pile in the sink..........: (

Frankly? Many folks can't manage one, nor the kitchen in which it resides. Truth is brutal. Same applies to trash. Full and not out the door, no matter the locale.

I have back to back sinks with garbage under each of them. I would never have garbage anywhere except inder the sink .IMO one garbage under the sink will serve both DWs I take my garbage out every day no need for a huge garbage can I also have my small compost bucket there and it goes into the large compost every day.

I would NEVER have garbage under the sink. A pullout is far easier, and should hold two tall 13 gal cans. One for trash, one for recycle of cans, glass , bottles etc.

Under the sink? It's good for the cleaning aspect, extra paper towels.....whatever.

I'm not a pro and respect ya'll greatly, but I'm not a fan of putting garbage in any cabinet, anytime anyplace even if it's purpose made for it. Instead I've always used free standing trash cans such as the Simple Human line.

My thoughts are that you might consider dual trash under the sink if you have a sink with a rear corner drain. It is not the most convenient area, but it is where the bulk of the waste is generated as noted by @User
