Help with leaking faucet

We have a Delta Valdosta faucet for our prep sink in our island. Single hole, pull down sprayer. DH and I went out of town for the week. Our son called us Saturday to let us know there was water in our mechanical room. We figured out it was leaking from the prep sink in our island which is above our mechanical room. He turned the water off at the prep sink, took cabinet door off, set up fan and dehumidifier to dry it out until we got home. We got home today. I went under the sink and turned both hot and cold back on. No leaking at first. I went and used the sprayer. No leaking. After about 15 minutes with faucet off it started leaking. It was coming from where the supply lines go up and into the faucet. I turned supply lines off again and it stops. I turn them back on and again no leaking until after some time. When there was no leaking my son went and pushed the handle in towards the faucet which would shut the water off at the faucet and it started leaking underneath. And it's not just a little drip. Does this mean the faucet is toast? It's only a little over 5 years old. Can you get a new set of the hoses or is a whole new faucet required? I have no clue what part inside there could be the issue.

Here's a pic looking up inside the cabinet. The water is coming out from where the 2 supply lines and the pull down sprayer loop with weight go into the faucet.

This is how much water accumulated after my son found water dripping in our mechanical room before we figured out where the water was coming from. You can see the wet cement, wet boxes and amount of water in the bucket tray.

Part of our wood floor is slightly buckled and we will have to deal with some wet insulation.

Phoned Delta. Had to send them pictures and video of the leaking. They are sending us a new faucet. We are putting in a claim with Delta for the floors and sewing machine that got ruined. Whether we see anything from it remains to be seen. Nervous about the cleanup sink faucet now as it is the same facuet as the one that leaked.

No way. The warranty covers the faucet.

@wdccruise They sent us a damage claim form to put in a claim for damages. Now whether they end up paying it is another story. We have to send them a receipt of purchase, invoices for damage, the old faucet and a letter of explanation. It's worth a shot but not expecting much.

Amazing that Delta paid for damages. It’s great they offer such an extensive warranty – definitely a reason to consider their brand in the future.

@Peter It was a fight to get what we got. It wasn't a smooth process. At one point the Delta guy got into a bit of a snit and sent the leaky faucet back that was there to be tested. We were basically called liars when we said we had a sewing machine damaged, some baseball cards and a Wii console and a few accessories. They didn't think the leak could have caused the damage. You can see from the picture I posted above the amount of water in the bin. That was water collected after the leak was caught. It came from above and leaked down onto everything on the storage shelves. You can see how wet the boxes are and thats the boxes on the bottom of the shelf. The top ones were way worse. That is where the sewing machine was. The sewing machine was water logged. They also lied about how much the estimate was for the wood floors to be repaired.

As far as extensive warranty goes it is not a warranty. My DH specifically asked them if they have damage claim forms and was told they did. Most people wouldn't know or think to even ask. Most would accept the new faucet and call it a day. But we were not settling for just a new faucet. Their faucet completely failed and it was only 5 years old. We had faucets in our previous house that never had any problems for 15 years.
