I think it’s a perfect size. Room for a King bed, two good size nightstands/dressers on either side. I don’t think it being slightly smaller than the second bedroom is bad. Might even be a good thing for resale— enough room for siblings to share or keep toys contained.

Does it matter?

No. It only matters to you. Like all else. : ) There will be five feet from the end of the bed to the wall.

Probably matters a LOT less than a hall bath around the corner from living and dining............which could easily have acted as powder room and solved the issue. Entirely. Or the pantry in the kitchen could have been bumped a foot, and it becomes your LAUNDRY....

Who knows? Or, or or. lol

It's hard to ask a small house, with a small addition, to do EVERYTHING.

@JAN MOYER I knew this was coming :) Just curious on others perspectives on this size room for a master.

If it works (meaning for us and a sampling of people agree so we dont kick ourselves if we ever sell), we managed to get what we wanted out of our ”small” (not small to us, actually growing our house by 50%) addition and we are happy with the layout choices.

IMO your home is for you not some imaginary buyer in who knows how many years . Enjoy the space and stop stressing over a foot that no one but you will ever care about.

I think the size seems fine - i don’t like a lot of furniture in a bedroom - seems more restful!

FWIW we have a similair layout but seperate entrance to the WIC - i like the seperateness and additional privacy but YMMV

It will be fine. You wound up with 12'6" and the additional 6" won't be a deal breaker.

That's a fine size and I don't think that having a secondary bedroom be larger than the master is an issue. That said, if you could use more room in the space adjoining the large secondary bedroom (can't see what it is on these plans), you could always take over what's currently that bedrooms closets and relocate those to the shared wall with the other secondary bedroom. Which actually might be good for sound dampening/privacy anyway. Generally don't love bedrooms sharing direct walls.

@HU-918119203 that is an interesting idea! It is our living room. We could use the space, but that weird utility square is a chimmney and I kind of like the barrier from the living room to kids room more than office to bedroom. Thank you!

I can steal 2” from the laundry room. I need to decide if I should add it to the 6’2” closet with clothes on both sides or increase the bedroom from 12’ to 12’2”.

2" isn't going to make any difference.

It would make more of a difference somewhere besides the laundry... I'm leaning toward the closet for a 2" increase in the middle area.
