Put it in the wall.

If you try to put in the glass door, you are in for a surprise...

I'd want some kind of WiFi enabled system to go with that. Chewy.com has them.

I second putting in the wall.

I would also put it in the wall. I like the idea of a wifi enabled system too.

You cannot just replace patio door glass with regular glass. There is a thermal barrier/insulation in the patio door and the glass needs to be tempered. Installing a dog door in an exterior glass door is not DIY. It's a custom fabrication by an exterior door professional.

This is not impossible, but it would be something cobbled together (ie: not likely to see a great end result) if you were trying to do this without buying a kit for it. Google retrofit pet door kit, there are a few out there. The pet door guys is one. Replacing the glass in the unit that gets the door will be a necessity either way.

Another option if the door is not very old would be to see what the manufacturer may have for options.... Cutting a hole in the wall is an option as well, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong there too.

I thought the wall would be the better solution as well. Good looking out guys and gal😉. I really appreciate the input.

My partner is insisting on getting a service. Any recommendations for a local Denver doggie door installer professional licensed bonded.

You could also get a 9 lite door slab, install the doggie door in the bottom, and install it where one of your 15 lite doors is. Keep the old door so you can reinstall it someday.

Wall install...or teach the dog to open the door. But they never lock it behind them when they close it. Ask me how I know.
