Confused. Which door are you considering changing the swing on and which way are you considering making it swing?

I wouldn't change it. Say you are bringing in groceries from garage and have both doors open; if you change the swing you would have to close first door before you access second door.

Which door is the issue . If the garage door there is no way I would change the swiing on thtat since it looks like you have steps going to the door. Have you thought maybe a pocket door where the other one is could be the best choice .

If the Door w/steps is going INTO your laundry......The door will be open for as long as it take you to enter. Meaning you leave it alone. Get in, and let the door slam behind you. That's a fire door btw, to be to code.

Or....... move that door and its steps a few inches left, add inches to the shared kitchen wall....... and POCKET THE DOOR entrance to the kitchen.

The door in question is the one on the Bottom/S wall, which comes in from the garage.

What is the traffic path typically, especially when carrying groceries? If you are usually going in and immediately to the right into the kitchen, then I think the door swing you have pictured for the garage door is best. For the kitchen door, you might consider making it a pocket door if that's possible.

We normally go in the mud/laundry room, put away coats/shoes, etc. then go into the kitchen. If I'm carrying stuff, I might set it down in the kitchen then come back out for shoes and what not. I'm not sure that we can do a pocket door there. That wall between the rooms is technically an exterior wall, and the laundry room is cut out of the garage space. The fridge is also right inside the door, on your left, and it has an ice maker. That water might come up through the floor though.

So the garage door would swing against the door into the house from the mudroom? Absolutely not. And I do not believe you can have the garage door swing into the garage with the steps and landing the way they are,

I can’t imagine why you would want to change the swing of the garage door. The kitchen door, however, I wonder…if you can’t do a pocket door (which would be ideal), can it change to swing into the laundry, and against the side wall? Or are there hooks/cubbies all along that wall, in use, that would be blocked?
