It requires NO pruning at this time. It seems to be developing exactly as it should at this point in time.

You dont think i should cut off a few bramches to promote bushiness? The red tape is holding on the tree wrap which prevents sunscald. The wrap is coming off in early april.

tree time is counted in decades .. your tree has been there one year.. whats your hurry ..

there is a tree forum.. and that is where you will find pruning advice.. in a year or 3 ...

every leaf is an energy making machine.. and its job for the next 2 or 3 years.. is to grow a root mass as big as the tree you see above ground... and cutting off limbs.. aka leaves.. is not going to speed up root growth ...and neither will fertilizer.. all it takes is time.. and if you fert the lawn.. the tree will get more than it will ever need ...

just water it deeply.. and infrequently.. and insure it properly watered in july and august.. and you should be all set ..

chris d, HERE is a previous post about 'Okame' cherry. One of the pix shows trees that are rounded over, the others are untouched. What do you think of them?

The pic at McDonalds on the other thread was taken when the tree was at peak bloom 23 days ago. I am in NE Maryland, flowers for this cherry are spent.
