lack of pictures???

how about a couple???

i guess my first inclination.. of which i dont know the answer ???... is whether this is one of those 'short lived' ornamental trees.. anyone??? .. might depends on what type of dogwood.. foo foo.. or native????

Dogwoods don't like a lot of sun. They can survive, but rarely do well. Maybe up north, they can take sun, but I doubt they like it in NC. They do much better in the shade.

Dogwoods are understory trees. In nature, they grow at, or inside the edge of woods in a location where they receive shade part of the day.

OP Some one mentioned the lack of pictures, I do not have any close up of the leaves, but they look quite normal. Both this year and last year the tree has bloom nicely.

What species "dogwood"?

OP: I have no idea it was here when we bought the house. It is not one of the fancy varieties.
