Miele W1 app use

If you are using Miele app for your W1 washer, I have some questions.

If I want to start the program using the app a pre-wash shows up as an option, but my machine doesn't have a slot for the pre-wash detergent. It has a place for reg. detergent, bleach and FS.

The second question is - Is it possible to start the washer using the app remotely from a different place other than your house?

If you are using the app, how do you use it ? What works the best for you?

And also what does an update do to a machine?

Thanks a lot!

Which model washer do you have? usually in the tray there are three slots marked one, two and a star/flower. Slot 1 is used for the pre-wash, slot two is for main wash detergent and the star is fabric softener.

If bleach is enabled then you can not have a pre-wash unless you have a Twin-Dos capable washer.

To use the app to control the washer you turn the dial or swipe on the touch screen model a d select the ”Mobile Control” cycle. The push the start button. Now you can select the program and options you want in the app and push start in the app.

Once the mobile control app is started on the washer you can use the app from anywhere to start a program. All the communication is between the app and Miele’s servers and the appliance and Miele’s Servers.

My washer is WWD160 and it does not have a slot for pre-wash. I don't have that option available on any of the cycles done manually. I see it in the mobile connect app only. I don't know why it shows up in the app when there is no viable way to use it.

It’s quite ambiguous on your washer. The right side of the drawer is both pre-wash and bleach, you’ll see the symbol for chlorine- a triangle and the symbol for pre-wash- a tub with a one in it on the lid of the softener dispenser. When you select ”heavy soiled”, pre-wash is added to the programme. Make sure chlorine bleach has been turned off in the programming menu and only use liquid detergent in the bleach/pre-wash compartment. You’ll find the best reference to this in the ”Quick Start Guide”. Programming for the bleach begins on p74 of the main manual. There’s not much info in the manuals on pre-wash, wish Miele would add more explanation.

@aamassther Thank you! I understand now, went back and looked at the Quick Guide and found the exact info. I had only glanced at it once before, didn't think it would contain important info. So bleach and prewash are using the same slot. I never intend to use bleach, so it is not activated, it is off by the factory settings anyway.

One more question - I have already switched on Maximum Rinse Level for all cycles for the manual cycle selection. On the app there is Water Plus option. If I choose Water Plus, will it add even more water on top of Maximum Rinse Level that I already have programmed for all of the cycles manually?

No, but it will increase the water level in the main wash on most cycles. Some cycles like delicates and woolens already use more water.
