I would take down the pendants, choose the new dining fixture. Then decide if you need hanging light in both spaces. I too am on the fence, I like the bit of charm they add but could see how recessed would just be a nice clean line. I wouldnt want just one in either case.

I don't find your existing lights objectionable. The space could be better accessorized.

What do you think about these 2 fixtures from Pottery Barn for over the dining room table. If my table is 48" round, would the light with the candle sticks be too big at 41.5" in diameter? What do you think about the 3 white light for island, or should I just put can lights there? I am wondering if it's going to look lopsided with the 3 light chandlier with that wall there as I would hang it above the part with no partial wall. Maybe just can lights???

Looks like I posted 2 of the same fixtures, so this is the light that is 41.5" in diameter - wondering if it is too big.

Thank you both for your feedback. I have scheduled an Electrician to replace pendant lights with can lights, and I will keep the dining room fixture for now.

Why not try adding some pendant lights and a chandelier which will give you more light? You could also look into adding track lighting to the space or can lights.
