When you planted it did you happen to get a good look at the roots and straighten/prune out any girdled roots?

I would have expected more growth, too.

Agree with @cearbhaill (zone 6b Eastern Kentucky); if this started in your landscape as a container plant, it likely had circling roots that will inhibit normal vigorous growth for this species.

Fortunately, it generally grows like a weed in eastern North America, so I suspect it can even overcome the worst spiral root system and go on to thrive in your garden. Fertilization and pruning later in the season after fruit are taken so that you have a denser plant, should lead to happy healthy specimen.

Do you have a pollinating partner for this one? Needs to be a different clone/seedling with overlapping bloom time, and you should achieve very heavy fruit set. Tell us about any fall color as well; this is where "a new clone every season" often falls down with Arrowwood Viburnum.

I have a brandywine that’s in bloom at the same time. I did get some berries on this one. This year will be exciting to see fall color. I will post a picture.

'Brandywine' is a Viburnum nudum clone, whereas 'Sparkler' is a Viburnum dentatum. Those are NOT pollinating partners.

You should post pictures of what "...I did get some berries on this one..." looks like. With a dissimilar Viburnum dentatum, this is what you can expect your Arrowwood Viburnum to achieve. These images are from one plant of Viburnum dentatum Crimson Tide on 7/23/2023. It lives among dozens of dissimilar plants, and nearly every flower in the bloom structure bears a fruit.

I’ll get a pollinator this year hopefully. Growth really took off !
